SOBAN CHAIR

Soban is Korean traditional dining tables used to serve the male of the house. Its function suggests the cultural idea of the hierarchy:  men having his own individual table was a concrete representation of the authority.

Inspired by the forms of these traditional low dining tables designated for eating while seating on the ground, this chair transforms itself between a set of a table/chair,  and a more westernized chair position.

With its elevated seat, Soban Chair allows the user to eat in a designated space.
